Inclusive Leadership Workshop

The Inclusive Leadership Workshop, held in Seattle, Washington from May 5-8, 2025, is sponsored by the UW Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine and the Office for Research and Graduate Education.
The in-person, four-day program is for postdoctoral researchers from outside the University of Washington who are exploring academic career paths in regenerative medicine/engineering and related fields and who are committed to inclusive teaching, mentoring, and lab leadership.
The workshop is designed to encourage academic careers from traditionally underrepresented U.S. demographic groups and is open to individuals of any ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, ability, veteran status, socio economic status, first generation to college status, and religion. Postdoctoral researchers from marginalized and historically excluded backgrounds (e.g., Black, LatinX, Hispanic, Indigenous, disabled, LGBTQ+) are highly encouraged to apply.
Workshop Components
- Small-group learning sessions focused on power dynamics, conflict resolution, implicit bias, managing and mentoring trainees, and more
- Individual Meetings with UW Medicine Faculty Members
- Podium presentations to UW Medicine Faculty
- Training on chalk talk preparation and delivery
- Additional career development training in UW Future Faculty Fellows Workshop
- Opportunities to socialize, network, and explore Seattle
