SUMMARY:Deadline: Simons Foundation Pivot Fellows
DESCRIPTION:The Simons Foundation is now accepting applications for the next class of Pivot Fellows\, offering a unique opportunity for researchers ready to bring their expertise to a new field in mathematics or the natural sciences. \nFellows will receive support for one year of mentored training in their new discipline\, followed by the opportunity to apply for up to five years of research funding in their new field. \nThe fellowships provide salary support and funding for research\, travel and professional development. In addition\, mentors will receive a $50\,000 research fund. At the end of the fellowship year\, fellows may be invited to apply for a research award in the new field for up to $1.5 million — plus indirect costs — over five years. \nSuccessful applicants will: \n\nHave a strong track record of success and achievement in their current field\nHave deep interest\, curiosity and drive to contribute to a new discipline\nBe a faculty member in the natural sciences\, mathematics\, engineering\, data science and computer science at an academic institution or an equivalent position elsewhere\n\nKey Dates\nApplication deadline: 12 p.m. ET\, May 14\, 2026

DESCRIPTION:Get ready for your graduate school experience with the UW Graduate School Preparation Program!  \nThe 2026 Graduate School Preparation Program is a four-week in-person academic preparation program at the University of Washington. Students will learn crucial research\, presentation\, and group work skills while developing advanced academic English language skills and preparing for graduate-level study in the U.S. Students in the program can improve writing and research skills\, gain knowledge about U.S. classroom culture\, and increase their confidence in discussions and giving presentations. While developing their academic skills in this intensive program\, students will participate in a poster session\, engage in a secondary research project\, and organize and present at a final academic conference. \nBuild a solid foundation in: \n\nPresentation skills\nResearch methods\nU.S. professor expectations\nLeading and participating in group discussions\nCommunicating effectively with professors and colleagues\nU.S. academic writing standards\nReading time management\nAmerican academic culture \n\nGraduate School Preparation Program dates are August 10 – September 3\, 2026.  The priority application deadline is May 22nd. \nLearn more or apply now! \nIf you have questions\, email us at joinIELP@uw.edu
