SUMMARY:Bioscience Careers Seminar Series: Lindsay Pino\, Talus Bio
DESCRIPTION:The Bioscience Careers Seminar Series is back by popular demand! Now led by the PhD Ambassadors in collaboration with the Office of Research and Graduate Education and Life Science Washington\, the series will allow graduate students to explore careers and build professional connections with biotech and pharmaceutical companies within Washington state. PhD training prepares you for many different jobs\, both inside and outside the academy. During this year’s Bioscience Careers Seminar Series\, we’ll highlight experiences of scientists who’ve transitioned from their PhD to various careers in one of our local companies. \n* To encourage networking and community building\, all sessions will be held in person at the UW SLU campus; recordings will be posted\, at a later date\, on the RGE website. \nAbout the Speaker \nLindsay Pino\, PhD is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Talus Bio. She is a leader in quantitative proteomics\, leveraging over a decade of experience in analytical chemistry and computational biology. Her work at Talus focuses on developing and scaling technologies to systematically measure how small molecules perturb protein function\, an approach that is crucial for advancing drug discovery and transcription factor biology. Her academic foundation includes a PhD in Genome Sciences from the University of Washington\, with additional training at the Broad Institute and the University of Pennsylvania. \nDr. Pino is actively involved in diverse research spanning cancer drug discovery\, epigenetics\, molecular mechanisms of aging\, and spatiotemporal proteomics. Beyond her research and leadership roles\, Lindsay is a dedicated member of the scientific community\, participating in organizations such as the American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS)\, the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO)\, and US HUPO. Her contributions have been recognized with the 2024 HUPO Rising Star Award and the 2025 Life Science Entrepreneurial Achievement Award from the Life Science Washington Institute (LSWI). Committed to mentorship and community building\, she frequently organizes workshops focused on proteomics\, professional skills\, and entrepreneurship.

SUMMARY:Rigor\, Reproducibility\, and Transparency (RRT) Seminar Series: Allison Meisner\, PhD
DESCRIPTION:The Rigor\, Reproducibility\, and Transparency (RRT) Seminar Series is a series in collaboration with the Fred Hutch Cancer Center presented by faculty from each of the several ongoing training grants at Fred Hutch and UW. Presenters include faculty from training grants at the Fred Hutch and the UW. The series is in response to NIH-mandated RRT training for trainees on training grants\, F awards\, and K awards. Lectures focus on a detailed discussion of common or emerging methodologies with the aim of describing strengths\, limitations\, and pitfalls so those employing or interpreting the data gain a realistic sense of what can and cannot be learned. \nThe April seminar will feature Allison Meisner\, PhD\, Assistant Professor\, Cancer Prevention Program Public Health Sciences Division\, Member\, Translational Data Science Integrated Research Center (TDS IRC)\, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Dr. Meisner will give an overview of the planning and conduct of the statistical analysis for the Pharm PrEP study. She will also provide some examples from breast cancer treatment trials. \nQuestions: Please submit any questions you would like to ask prior to the seminar here. \nZoom Link:  \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/82446851734?pwd=nvw2TtUatZuVS5ZGKe1MG2ygieVMS4.1 \nMeeting ID: 824 4685 1734\nPasscode: 047508
