SUMMARY:Diversity in Clinical Trials Policy Info Session
DESCRIPTION:The University of Washington is implementing new reporting requirements for clinical trials subject to the UW Diversity in Clinical Trials (DCT) policy. These changes support compliance with Washington State’s Diversity in Clinical Trials law (RCW 69.78) and aim to improve the completeness and quality of enrollment data for underrepresented populations. \nKey Details: \n\nApplies to new clinical trials subject to the UW DCT policy that are submitted to HSD on or after January 1\, 2026.\nEnrollment data must be reported using OnCore\, UW’s Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS).\nClinical trials reporting solely for compliance with the UW DCT policy have reduced reporting requirements.\nClinical trials that are already required to report in OnCore (e.g.\, oncology studies\, studies with UW Medicine billable activities) should adhere to those more robust reporting requirements. For these study teams\, no additional training will be required under the DCT pathway.\n\nCompliance Monitoring: \n\nEnrollment data\, or an indication that no enrollments occurred\, must be entered at least annually.\nCTMS will run monthly reports to identify studies overdue for data entry.\nStudy teams not meeting these reporting requirements will be referred to HSD for follow-up.\n\nUpcoming Webinars: \nTo support onboarding\, the CTMS Program Office will host informational webinars on: \n\nJanuary 14\, 2026- 9:00-10:00 AM PT- Register \n\nFor questions contact CTMS@fredhutch.org or hsdinfo@uw.edu.

SUMMARY:Bioscience Careers Seminar Series: Ami Yamamoto\, Omeros
DESCRIPTION:The Bioscience Careers Seminar Series is back by popular demand! Now led by the PhD Ambassadors in collaboration with the Office of Research and Graduate Education and Life Science Washington\, the series will allow graduate students to explore careers and build professional connections with biotech and pharmaceutical companies within Washington state. PhD training prepares you for many different jobs\, both inside and outside the academy. During this year’s Bioscience Careers Seminar Series\, we’ll highlight experiences of scientists who’ve transitioned from their PhD to various careers in one of our local companies. \n* To encourage networking and community building\, all sessions will be held in person at the UW SLU campus; recordings will be posted\, at a later date\, on the RGE website. \nAbout the Speaker \nAmi (pronounced “Ah-mee”) Yamamoto (she/her) received her B.S. in Genetics\, Cell Biology & Development at the University of Minnesota\, Twin Cities in 2015. During that time\, she worked in a lab studying microtubule dynamics. She then worked as a technician for 2 years in a lab studying stem cell therapies for muscular dystrophy. Ami started her PhD at the University of Washington Molecular & Cellular Biology (MCB) Program in 2017 and completed her dissertation in the lab of Kevin Cheung at Fred Hutch studying breast cancer metastasis. After she received her PhD in 2023\, she started working as a Scientist at Omeros Corporation\, a local Seattle biotech company. Although Omeros primarily focuses on complement related diseases\, her role is in the oncology team in Discovery\, developing cancer therapeutics. In her free time\, Ami enjoys cooking\, baking\, knitting\, playing pickleball\, and video games.
