SUMMARY:Rigor\, Reproducibility\, and Transparency (RRT) Seminar Series: Abhinav Nath\, PhD
DESCRIPTION:The Rigor\, Reproducibility\, and Transparency (RRT) Seminar Series is a series in collaboration with the Fred Hutch Cancer Center presented by faculty from each of the several ongoing training grants at Fred Hutch and UW. Presenters include faculty from training grants at the Fred Hutch and the UW. The series is in response to NIH-mandated RRT training for trainees on training grants\, F awards\, and K awards. Lectures focus on a detailed discussion of common or emerging methodologies with the aim of describing strengths\, limitations\, and pitfalls so those employing or interpreting the data gain a realistic sense of what can and cannot be learned. \nThe February seminar will feature Abhinav Nath\, PhD\, Associate Professor and Interim Chair\, Department of Medicinal Chemistry\, University of Washington. \n“Estimating Uncertainty in Model Parameters: Case Studies from Single-Molecule Fluorescence and Drug Discovery.” \nModel fitting – estimating the parameters of a model that best describe experimental observations – is a powerful and widely-used approach throughout the natural and biomedical sciences. An important consideration is understanding the level of uncertainty in the parameter values obtained by model fitting. In other words\, how confident are we in the output of a given model? This seminar will cover different methods of estimating this uncertainty\, including various resampling approaches. Problems will be illustrated using examples from biophysics and pharmacology\, including the interpretation of single-molecule fluorescence data and protein aggregation assays. \nQuestions: Please submit any questions you would like to ask prior to the seminar here. \nJoin Zoom Meeting \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/87384453549?pwd=acrmm9YVh8C7au5NBdsfndTEpxS60i.1 \nMeeting ID: 873 8445 3549\nPasscode: 000408

From raising capital to scaling to exit strategies\, these presentations feature experienced entrepreneurs\, investors\, and industry experts who share startup-related information\, experience\, and insights. See our winter line up and register below. \nLEARN MORE AND REGISTER >>> \n\n\n\nLubica Lutz \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen you don’t need a perfect (startup) idea- you need empathy\n\n\n\n\n\nMost ideas don’t fail because they lack funding\, or ambition. They fail because they are built on assumptions about people. \nHuman-Centered Design (HCD) is a research-backed method that reduces risk early by shifting focus from finding the right solution to asking better questions. It uses empathy to learn directly from the people you aim to serve\, instead of guessing stakeholder needs. \nIn this 60-minute lecture\, Lubica Lutz introduces Human-Centered Design as a practical tool for moving ideas forward with clarity\, whether you are launching a startup\, translating research into impact\, or shaping a new program inside an organization. Empathy is no longer a “soft skill”. It is your strategic team-member. \nThe lecture is intentionally designed for a mixed audience: \n\nfounders and early startup teams\nresearchers and scientists exploring real-world application\nstudents\, public and first-time idea-makers\nemployees developing new initiatives within organisations (“intrapreneurs)\n\nNo prior startup or design experience is required — and experienced innovators will still gain sharper fast techniques\, and fresh perspective.
