Bioscience Careers Seminar Series: Erica Jonlin, PhD
October 19, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Hosted at UW Medicine South Lake Union Orin Smith Auditorium and streamed live on Zoom Webinar
For the last 20+ years, Dr. Erica Jonlin has had various regulatory positions at UW, from the NIH-funded UW Program of Excellence in Gene Therapy, to working on individual translational research grants, to her present position with the UW Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine (ISCRM) and the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology.
Erica holds a bachelors degree in biochemistry from UPenn and a PhD in biochemistry from UCLA. She attributes her post-PhD launch to an AAAS Science and Diplomacy Fellowship in Washington, D.C., that allowed her to work on science policy and regulation and administer international research funding programs in biotechnology at the U.S Agency for International Development.
Along the way, Erica has served on many oversight boards and committees. She also regularly lectures and publishes on ethical conundrums in Human Subjects research and stem cell research. In addition to discussing her career path, Erica will talk about how you can find your true calling and parlay each experience into an opportunity.
The 2023-2024 series is sponsored by: The Departments of Biochemistry, Biological Structure, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, Laboratory Medicine & Pathology, Physiology & Biophysics, and Molecular and Cellular Biology.
