Build & Enhance Infrastructure

Infrastructure

Planning, decision-making, and governance of research facilities, services, and assignments for the School of Medicine. This includes activities at School of Medicine research facilities.

Environment

We are committed to providing a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment. Several diversity, equity, and inclusion programs focus on transforming and enhancing our research and education environment so we continue to be a safe, supportive, and innovative place for our diverse community members.

Integrated Experience

Educators, researchers, and partners work together to integrate research programs into our biomedical graduate education. These partnerships result in robust educational experiences that contribute to exceptional students and innovative research programs and discoveries.

Research Administration Policy & Decision Support Analyses

Research Administration Guidance

We work with School of Medicine leadership and departments to develop policies and guidance that inform pre-award activities and post-award administration. We review all grant and contract proposals that involve the School of Medicine, and work with researchers and teams to support their understanding of policies and guidelines.

Decision Support and Analytics

We provide School of Medicine leadership and departments with effective analyses and reports to support strategic decisions and planning. We prepare and manage information about School of Medicine research activities, graduate education programs, and our research infrastructure to support University and external reporting requirements.

Fostering a Culture of Partnership and Collaboration

Cooperation

We work with the University’s Office of Research, The Graduate School, and other University administrative units on planning and initiatives that impact research and graduate education programs. We coordinate with peers at other schools and colleges within the University on efforts that assure cohesion in our policies and to foster a collegial environment that promotes the sharing of ideas and collaborations.

Partnerships and Networking

We work closely with external partners to administer programs that provide critical infrastructure and support to our researchers, trainees, and programs. We support the planning of resources that foster research collaboration across research areas. We also support active resource and education networks that connect research administrators across the School of Medicine.

Turning Discoveries into Practice and Developing our Future

Clinical and Translational Research

We work with the Clinical Trials Office to support the critical research that brings innovative care and treatments that improve the health of patients. We partner with the Institute of Translational Health Sciences to provide clinical resources, education, pilot funds, and tools that promote the translation of research from discovery to practice.

Graduate and Professional Development

We support various programs and initiatives that offer educational and training opportunities to our faculty, staff, and students. These programs benefit from the expertise and innovations in our community to provide exceptional learning and development opportunities to our current and future biomedical researchers and educators.

Events and Trainings

We offer events and programs that celebrate the research discoveries of our community. These events are often open to the public and are an opportunity for the community to learn about the amazing research that happens at the School of Medicine and the University. We also support various training opportunities to further develop knowledge and skills.
