Deadline: Latino Center for Health Graduate Student Scholars Fellowship Program
The Latino Center for Health (LCH) is investing $40,000 annually to develop a new generation of leaders who will respond to current and emerging health issues faced by the diverse Latinx/e communities in our state. In the six years that the Fellowship has existed, we have supported and mentored approximately 72 graduate student scholars and invested over $390,500 cumulatively with the match contribution of our educational partners (the University of Washington, Eastern Washington University, Washington State University, Heritage University, and Western Washington University). This graduate student fellowship supports student scholars and also promotes a path towards collaborative, interdisciplinary efforts aimed at promoting the health and well-being of the Latinx/e community.
This opportunity is offered annually to cohorts of up to 16 graduate or professional students who demonstrate a commitment to improving the health of Latinx communities with a $2,500 fellowship, matched by the schools, for a total fellowship of $5,000. Funds are disbursed throughout both the winter and spring quarters.
The purpose of this program is to:
- Support the next generation of health science leaders and scholars who will promote the health and well-being of Latinx/e communities in Washington state;
- Address the healthcare workforce shortage in Washington state, particularly among Latinx/e providers and practitioners, towards achieving population parity in our state; and
- Convene an interdisciplinary cohort of dedicated health science graduate students across the state to promote personal and professional development through planned activities.
The UW SOM will award two $5000 fellowships disbursed winter and spring quarters of 2026: one for medical students and one for graduate/allied health students enrolled in one of the six UW Seattle campus health sciences schools. The application will require a one-page letter of support. LOS can be emailed to the Office of Healthcare Equity at ohceadmin@uw.edu.
This fellowship may be awarded as a stipend with an additional Non-Resident Differential (removes non-resident portion of tuition) if applicable. DACA students are eligible to apply.
Please submit the following application form (including letter of support) by November 17th, 2025.
