Royalty Research Fund Proposal Deadline (Spring)

March 3, 2025

The purpose of the RRF is to advance new directions in research, particularly:

  • For faculty who are junior in rank.
  • In cases where RRF funding may provide unique opportunities to increase applicants’ competitiveness for subsequent funding.
  • In disciplines for which external funding opportunities are minimal

Visit our updated web site for application instructions.

Proposals must demonstrate a high probability of generating important new creative activities or scholarly understandings, new scholarly materials or resources, significant data or information, or essential instrumentation.

Submissions from all disciplines are welcome, with budgets up to $40,000, and will be peer reviewed through one of four RRF Review Committees:

  • Arts and Humanities
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences
  • Basic Biological and Biomedical Sciences
  • Physical Sciences and Engineering.

Please submit your proposal to be reviewed in the area that most closely matches your project, which might not necessarily match your home department. Project teams that review and follow all the instructions have a greater chance of funding.

IMPORTANT: The most common problems with RRF submissions are incomplete proposals and sections that exceed stated limits. Routing a ready-to-submit (RTS) proposal with an eGC1 status of “In OSP” in SAGE at least 3-4 business days before the deadline will guarantee that RRF staff have time to review and provide valuable feedback on proposals. This advance review gives PIs time to make corrections and meet requirements for a final submission. Proposals that do not meet the requirements by the deadline are not reviewed.

Please follow instructions carefully in preparing proposals and submit 3-4 business days in advance of the deadline to ensure that your proposal receives full consideration.

Contact the RRF administrative staff with questions about the program: Peter Wilsnack, 206-685-9316.
