The goal of the FFFW is to prepare post docs to apply for academic positions in biosciences by providing resources to understand and prepare job applications, gain teaching and mentoring experience, and build communication and job-seeking skills.

The workshop will feature search committee members and faculty members both within and outside traditional university research settings.

Workshop topics include:

• Demystifying academia
• How to write research, teaching, and diversity statements
• Preparing for your interview
• Careers outside of research universities
• Understanding search committees
• New Faculty Panel
• Mentorship
• Department Chairs panel

The workshop is free and open to any postdoctoral fellow from the University of Washington School of Medicine, Allen Institute, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Institute for Systems Biology, Seattle Biomedical Research Institute, and Seattle Children’s Research Institute.

The application for 2027 Future Faculty Fellows Workshop will open February 2027.
