Serwah Danquah

Serwah Danquah is a PhD candidate in the Molecular Medicine and Mechanisms of Disease (M3D) program at the University of Washington, where she has been since September 2023. She graduated from Rowan University in December 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. As an undergraduate, she investigated the role of inflammation and neurovascular unit dysfunction in cognitive decline and dementia.

After graduating, Serwah worked as a research technician at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, developing a high-throughput pooled assay to screen morphological features associated with schizophrenia and autism in induced human pluripotent stem cell-derived neurons.

Serwah conducts her dissertation research in the Sullivan Lab at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, a cancer metabolism lab, where she studies how succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) deficiency can be exploited for therapeutic benefit in cancer.

Beyond the lab, Serwah is an officer in the UW Science & Engineering Business Association (SEBA) and is pursuing a Technology Entrepreneurship Certificate. Outside of her program, she enjoys baking and cooking
